Gurdwara Sri Nanaksar Sahib Nanded

Gurdwara Sri Nanaksar Sahib is the main Gurdwara. This location was visited by Sri Guru Nanak Sahib Ji who was en-route to Bidar. There is a Ber tree where it is said that Guru Ji sat praying to God for nine days and nine hours.

One day, Guru Nanak's companion Bhai Mardana Ji asked for water. Guru Nanak asked Bhai Mardana to play the 'Dhun of Kartar' (Tune of Almighty Lord) with his rabab (a string instrument). As Bhai Mardana played the rabab a spring of cool and sweet water appeared nearby. Guru Ji revealed the secret of the water's appearence, 'This pious land belongs to God, that's why the water is so cool and sweet'.

During the course of discussion a leper came and asked Guru Nanak to help him, 'Be kind enough to remove my leprosy so I may get rid of this agony'. Guru Nanak asked the leper to have a bath under the spring and drink the water of the spring. The leper recovered from leprosy by the grace of Guru Ji.

The spring was developed into a sarovar. It is said that those who take a dip in this sarovar with faith and devotion will have their hopes fulfilled. Firstly the service of digging and building of this holy sarovar was done by Maharaja Ranjeet Singh. The renovation service of sarovar and Gurdwara was done by Baba Narinder Singh.
