Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji arrived here while on a tour of the Malwa region.

Along with Guru Tegh Bahadur was Mata Nanaki Ji, Mata Gujari Ji and 300 Sikhs.

Guru Tegh Bahadur stopped to rest outside Aloarkh village. The surrounding land belonged to Diwan Todar Mal.

When Todar Mal heard about Guru Tegh Bahadur's visit, he came here along with his family and asked how he could be of service.

Guru Tegh Bahadur blessed Todar Mal and told him that he will be informed of his service in future.

It is said that when Chote Sahibzade and Mata Gujari were cremated at Gurdwara Sri Jyoti Saroop Sahib their asth (ashes) were sent here to the village of Diwan Todar Mal.

The asth were preserved and re-buried in a Thara Sahib at the Gurdwara when it was rebuilt in 1991.
