The site of Gurdwara Sri Gurplaha Sahib Bathu was visited by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

The ninth descendent of Guru Nanak was Baba Kaladhari who lived at Dera Baba Nanak. Guru Gobind Singh and Baba Kaladhari had great respect for each other.

Guru Gobind Singh asked Baba Kaladhari to meet him at this location in Bathu. At the time there was a dense forest here.

Guru Gobind Singh and Baba Kaladhari met under a Plaha (Butia fondosa) tree (therefore the name of the Gurdwara) and had many political and religous discussions.

Guru Gobind Singh blessed Baba Kaladhari who had an extraordinary grandson by the name of Baba Sahib Singh. Baba Sahib Singh helped establish the Sikh Empire and gave Amrit to Maharaja Ranjit Singh at Vaisakhi in 1801.
