When Sri Guru Nanak Sahib Ji arrived here, Bhai Chanan Mal arranged Guru Sahib to rest at his home in the Chaubara (on the first floor).

Guru Nanak's visit coincided with son being born to Bhai Chanan Mal. Bhai Sahib celebrated Guru Nanak's visit and the birth of his son by arranging bhojan (free food) for all. Bhai Chanan Mal invited people from every cast for the bhojan.

Unfortunately, the brahmins who were visiting said Bhai Sahib's house was now sutak (impure) because of his sons birth. Guru Nanak responded by uttering the following shabad (which is listed in Asa Di Var and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji);

Jekar sutak manye sab tai sutak hoye || gohe ate lakdi andar kida hoye ||
jete dane ann ke jia baaj n koye || pahila paani jio hai jit harya sab koye ||
sutak kuon kari rakhye sutak pave rasoyi || nanak sutak eve na utrye gyaan utaare dhoye ||1||

man ka sutak lobh hai jivah sutak kurhu || akhi sutak vekhna par tria par dhan rup ||
kani sutak kan pai laitbari khahi || nanak hansa aadmibade jam puri jahi ||

sabo sutak bharam hai duja lage jaye || jaman marna hukam hai bhane aave jaye ||
khana pina pavitra hai diton rizak sambhahi || nanak jinhi gurmukh bujhya tinha sutak nahi ||
(Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Ang 472)

Listening to this, the brahmins understood the meaning of Sutak and changed their minds. The sat down with everyone else and had food in Pangat.

Later, Rajput Mansur Ali Khan took control of the town and renamed it as Mansurpur. The town was freed by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and the Khalsa Raj was established.
