Witness No. 82

Name : Satyendera Nath

Age :

Occupation : ACP, West District

Address :

On SA

In October – November, 84, I was posted as SHO, Police Station Chandi Mahal. I am shown the replies submitted by Ved Singh (W-80) those replies also bears my signatures. I prepared those replies after going through the record as I was the SHO at the relevant time.

On 31.10.84 after a meeting in the office of DCP (Central District), I detailed my staff at the strategic points within the area of my Police Station. Patrolling was intensified; there was foot patrolling and mobile patrolling also. This arrangement had continued on 1.11.84 and 2.11.84 also.

Cross examination by H.S. Phoolka, Senior Advocate on behalf of November '84 Carnage Justice Committee

There was an apprehension that some untoward incident may take place. One of the apprehension was that Sikhs or their properties may be attacked. We had made some preventive arrests though I cannot give exact details today. Such arrests were made on 31.10.84 and 1.11.84 since I do not have the record available with me.

Whenever any preventive arrest is made an entry in the Daily Diary register is made to that effect. As far as I remember the Daily Diaries were submitted to Justice Ranganath Mishra Commission of Inquiry along with other record. The FIR No.239 is a general FIR and it does not relate to any attack on any Sikh or Sikh property.

Read over and found correct.
