1984 Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

I, Tirath Singh son of S. Aya Singh, aged 40 years resident of E-370, Krishna Gali, Kotla Mubarakpur, having shop No. 19,"Khalsa General Store" Sukhdev Market, New Delhi-3, do hereby solemnly state on oath that: -

1. On 31.10.1984, when I got the news of assassination of our beloved Prime Minister I was highly grieved and after closing my shop I came to my house which is not far from the shop. In the way some of my acquaintances informed me that towards Safdarjang side Sikhs were being beaten and their shops looted.

2. On 31.10.1984, at about 10 PM, my neighbours informed me that a mob of about 400 – 500 person came to loot my shop. These persons carried iron rods, spears, sticks etc. with them. On hearing this I could not control myself but my wife and neighbours forbade me to go there. My neighbours took my wife to the shop and on return she told me that my shop had been looted. I suffered loss of about Rs. 50,000/-.
