1984 Delhi Sikh Genocide - Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

I Sawinder Singh aged about 41years, son of Lal Singh R/o G-67/A Kiran Garden, New Delhi, do hereby on solemn affirmation state and declare as under:-

1. That on 1-11-84, the non-sikhs started attacking sikhs in Kiran Garden, and looted their properties and burnt the houses Several persons were also killed by them.

2. I took shelter in Gurdwara of Kiran Garden on 1-11-84 itself. I say that I am the owner of Jasmit General Store in this area.

3. I say that my said General Store was looted on 2-11-84 and also my house was looted and burnt to ashes on the same date by the non-sikhs.

4. This looting and burning of the houses and throwing of bricks bats on the sikhs was instigated and done by Kirpa Ram Pradhan Village Nawada, Delhi and Vedu, the Congress(I) worker Om Vihar, and other. These persons were leading the mob.

5. I suffered a loss of more than Rs.1,00,000/-. No Compensation was paid to me for my loss. Rs.5000/- is given for repairs.

6. I say that looting and burning was done by the non-sikhs and the police who was also passing through that place time and again did not take any action against the culprits and did not protect the sikhs and their properties. Culprits should be punished.
