1984 Delhi Sikh Genocide - Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

I, Rawel Kaur Wd/o Gurcharan Singh, aged 40 yrs., R/o C-103 D, Tilak Vihar, Tilak Nagar, New Delhi-18, do hereby solemnly affirm and state as under: -

1. That I reside at the aforesaid address where I shifted in April 1985 when the Government of India gave alternative accommodation to the riot-hit widows whose husbands were killed in the November`84, riots. Before shifting to Tilak Vihar, Tilak Nagar, I had been residing at H.No.J-211, Kartar Nagar, Lal Mandir Road, Gonda, Shahdara, Delhi-53.

2. That on 2-11-84, my husband late Gurcharan Singh son of Gurbaksh Singh, another son S. Shankar Singh and daughter Rani were killed by the mob led by seven persons of the locality. These seven persons were: -

1) Kashi Ram Weaver, r/o Gonda West

2) Murari S/o Keshi Ram (They reside just near my house at Gonda)

3) Hari Sharma who reside just near my house and is carrying on the business of selling construction materials.

4) Mohinder Sharma, r/o J-210, Kartar Nagar, Gonda, Shahdara, Delhi-53.

5) Rakesh Kumar Sharma S/o Mahinder Kr. Sharma r/o

6) Rajinder, r/o J-Block, Kartar Nagar, Gonda, Shahdara, Delhi-53.

7) Kanhaiya S/o Master Weaver, r/o J-Block, Kartar Nagar, Gonda, Shahdara, Delhi-53.

3. That I lodged report against the said persons but no action has been taken against them.

4. That on 16th August 1985, I went to my old residence at J-211, Kartar Nagar, Lal Mandir Road, Gonda, Shahdara, Delhi-53, along with a customer to sell my that house as it is not possible for me to live there.

5. That there Mahinder Sharma (accused) No.4, mentioned in para 2, Rakesh Sharma (accused No.5 mentioned in para 2 above) and Hari Sharma (accused No.3 mentioned in para 2 above) met me and started hurling abuses at me. They threatened me and my youngest son Raj Singh, aged 10 yrs. with dire consequences if I proceeded further with the case against them. They also threatened to liquidate both of us if we gave their names in the Enquiry Commission set up by the Govt. of India to probe into the November `84, riots.

6. That I lodged a report with the Police Station Silampur Distt. East Delhi vide FIR No.305/85, dated 16-8-1985, narrating the entire incident. Photocopy attached herewith.

7. That till now no action has been taken against the accused persons stated in paragraph (5) above.
