1984 Delhi Sikh Genocide - Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

I, Nanki Kaur W/o Gagan Singh, R/o 13/347, Kalyanpuri, Delhi, do hereby solemnly states and affirm as under: -

1. I say that on 1-11-84, at about 6 P.M., Ramesh from Block No.14, Pathak Gajdamba, Khan and some other persons came to our block but we requested them not to hurt us and they were leaving when the Ramesh, Pathak above named began to incite the mob upon which the mob began to burn and kill the Sikh male members of the Colony.

2. The mob swelled gradually upto approx. 3000. The mob would drag out male members stab them and then burn them.

3. The leaders of the mob were the local Congress men whom I can recognize. The goondas who have been doing the arson and looting and killing are now roaming in the streets threatening with dire consequences if we go before the commission.

4. The police joined the crowd in burning and killing. As a matter of fact when the police came on 1-11-84, in the evening the mob began to scatter, but the police announced that they had come to protect the mob from the Sikhs and they, the mob, are free to do what they liked.

5. The Congress (I) leaders together with the police have organized the looting and killing in our colony.

6. I have seen the whole thing and can recognize all the leaders and the policemen who were instigating the mob and helping them.
