1984 Delhi Sikh Genocide - Affidavits

1984 Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

I, Jaimal Singh S/o S. Arjun Singh, aged 43 yrs., R/o D-8/1, Model Town, Delhi-9, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under: -

1. That on 1st November '84, at about 10 A.M., some persons on scoters and motorcycles were repeatedly going through our road and continuously looking and watching at house as if they were finding out houses as per their list.

2. That at about 11 A.M., a mob of about 200 persons with lathies, talwars and steel rods attacked suddenly at my house, broke doors and windows, entered in my house and looted all the goods lying in the house and put the house on fire. They also burnt out two Fiat cars. Some persons in the mob were shouting to loot and kill the Sikhs. Two policemen were standing in a corner of my house. I and my family members rushed on the upper storey for safety and thus we were saved.

3. That I rang to the police and fire brigade but they showed their inability saying that they had no arrangements for help.

4. That the mob left after looting and setting on fire my house. After that neighbourers came for our help and saved our lives and put water on the fire. I lodged written complaint to the SHO Kingsway Camp about the incident on 6-11-84.
