1984 Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Nanavati Commission

I, S. Gurmail Singh, S/o S. Dharam Singh, age 50 years, R/o H-78E, Palam Colony, Raj Nagar near New Gurdwara, New Delhi-45 do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under:-

1. That I purchased Plot No. RZ-261 / B/ 36, Raj Nagar, Palam Colony, New Delhi in 1975. I built the house and was staying there with my family members.

2. That on 1st November '84, at about 0930 hours a mob came and first burnt the Gurdwara Sahib of Raj Nagar.

3. That then the mob was approaching towards my home, I left the home and took shelter in the neighbour's house.

4. That I saw the mob looting and burning my house.

5. That at night I cut my hair and left the neighbour's house and went to Palam Airport.

6. I stayed at Palam Airport till 07-11-84.

7. That I suffered a loss of Rs. 70,000/- due to burning of my house and household goods.

8. That I have received no compensation so far whatsoever from the Govt.

9. I request that I may be given compensation for the loss of my property and household goods.
