I, Gurcharan Singh swear and state as under:-

1. On 31.10.84 when we came to know about the sad demise of our Prime Minister we were shocked.

2. On 1.11.84 at 9.00 a.m. when my father got ready to go out for his work we did not allow him to go. We closed our house and shifted to the upper storey of our house. At about 11.a.m. a huge mob came towards our house. In front of that mob was a half-body truck. Out of that truck alighted Hem Chander, a Congress (I) worker. His son was also with him. That truck also contained many iron rods and lathis etc., which were distributed to the mob by Hem Chander and his son. The mob of 2 to3 thousands of people divided itself into 3 to 4 parts. Out of them about 5 to 7 hundreds men came towards our house. Ten Hem Chander pointed out our house C- 40 to the mob saying that Sikhs live in that house. Then he sad, "Burn the house. The Sardars is at home. They will also get burnt along with the house." After that the mob started to break open the locks of the house. The goods were looted and put in the said truck.

3. Afterwards, a jeep came there. In the jeep Braham Yadav's brother Mahesh was sitting. Petrol cans were in the jeep which were distributed to the mob, and our house was set on fire. At that time my father was down-stairs. The mob doused our father with petrol and burnt him alive. In this incident I suffered a loss of Rs. 4-5 Lakhs.
