I, Gian Singh aged about 50 years, son of S. Bhola Singh resident of 18/137, East Moti Bagh, Delhi do hereby on solemn affirmation state and declare as under: -
1. I say that on 1-11-84, at about 10 AM, I received information from two Hindu boys of our street (who do not want to be named) that in the night of 31-10-84, Anil Kumar Gupta of shop No.35, Old Rohtak Road, Kishan Ganj Market, Delhi and Amar Nath Babbar of shop No.78, of the said market, had put marks on the shops of Sikhs including our shop. At about 11 AM, I sent my wife Mohinder Kaur to find out the position of the shop because I and other male members of the family could not move out due to serious danger to our lives around.
2. At the shop Mohinder Kaur saw that Anil Kumar, Amar Nath Babbar, Moman Singh who is resident of 18/137, East Moti Bagh, Ramesh Kumar resident of West Moti Bagh, Delhi and one Suresh who is selling milk in the corner shop of Gali No.1, East Moti Bagh, Delhi, were breaking open the locks of our shop No.24, Kishan Ganj Market, Delhi. There were many other Non-Sikhs also with them. In the meantime four policemen two with rifles and two with batons came there and loudly announced that shops of the Sikhs be looted and it was the best chance that day, and such a chance would never come again. Immediately looting of our shop started by the Non-Sikhs. Some of the wood was taken out from the shop and set on fire. Shops of other Sikhs in the area were also looted by the Non-Sikhs.
3. That my wife came home after seeing all this looting and burning of the shop. At about 4 PM on 1-11-84 Moman Singh, Romesh Kumar, Anil Kumar Gupta, Amar Nath Babbar and Suresh, with three four other persons came to our house and in loud voice said that they had looted our shop and would then loot our house also and would kill us. We took out swords and challenged them to save our lives and property. They had to run away, but while running away they set on fire four trucks of another Sikh parked on the road. We have suffered a loss of about Rs. 55,000/-. No compensation worth the same is given to us, not any criminal case is made or investigation done by the police.
4. The police clearly did not protect Sikhs and their properties. My report was not recorded by the police on the pretext that such incidents happened with almost all the Sikhs. It was well organized conspiracy of ruling party in which police played the maximum role. I pray action should be taken against the culprits and proper compensation be given to us for the loss suffered by us.
