1984 Delhi Sikh Genocide - Affidavits

1984 Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

I, Devi Kaur w/o S. Puran Singh aged 25 years r/o 32/57, Trilokpuri, Delhi do hereby solemnly state on oath as under: -

1. After the assassination of Indira Gandhi on 31.10.84 when we were watching T.V. on 1.11.84 we heard slogans like, "Khoon Ka Badla Khoon Se Lengey." In the meantime, the Gurdwara of our colony was set ablaze. From our house we could see the flames of burning Gurdwara.

2. In the evening at about 4 p.m. a mob comprising of about 500 persons came. They had iron rods and kerosene oil bottles in their hands. With these iron rods they broke open our door and came inside. This mob was being led by Rampal Saroj, Congress leader and Kishori. They hit my husband's younger brother's (brother-in-law) head with iron rods and injured them grievously. Then they poured kerosene oil upon them and burnt them alive. Our entire household effects were looted. We fled from that place and hid ourselves in a temple nearby. I do not know the name of that temple.

On 3.11.84 military vehicle came, rescued us and escorted us to the Farash Bazar, Jhilmil Colony camp.

We suffered a loss of about Rs.80,000/-. Police did not help us at all.
