I, Charanjit Singh S/o S. Hardit Singh, aged 43 yrs. , R/o II-C/47, Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi-24, do hereby solemnly affirm and state as under: -

1. I am working as a teacher and I A. M. a Secretary of Sat Sang Guru Nanak Darbar, Lajpat Nagar, III, behind Alankar Cinema.

2. On 1st November, 1984, at about 10 A.M., a violent mob came to the Gurdwara from the Ring Road side. I was at my home and I was told about all by the Sewadar and S. Mehel Singh who along with his family and the Granthi S. Tarsem Singh were in their rooms in the Gurdwara.

There were noise outside the Gurdwara. Hearing this noise the Sewadar and the Granthi came out but they were requested by the police to go inside and we (police) will protect the Gurdwara and them. As they went into their rooms the mob comprising of 1200 to 1500 came near and started throwing stones. The mob was armed with petrol cans, sariyas, lathis etc.

They went upstairs in the main hall and broke the glass door. They also burnt the holy books, Guru Granth Sahib and threw some of them. They closed the door of the room of the Seawater and put it on fire. He was saved by the Hindu neighbours and shopkeepers. The basement is on rent to Revit Exporter Home.

The mob also tried to burnt the basement on rent to Exporter, Hari Gopal who luckily came there and he tried his best to save his office and store. He was also attacked by the mob but he did not move. He had a scuffle with the mob who was throwing a burning tyre into the store through a window.

Seeing him fighting alone, some Hindu residents came out as there was danger to their houses also. After half an hour, the mob went away. After that the people residing there came out and put off the fire. The police station is hardly any distance away from the Gurdwara and the two constables who were deputed at the Gurdwara and were present did not stop the mob from doing all this.

3. The mob went towards the Gurdwara II, which is also managed by the same Committee. The mob also tried to burn it but it has saved by the Hindu neighbours who have a common wall with the Gurdwara. They broke the glasses of the Gurdwara.
