I, Bodhraj S/o Late Sh. Satyapal, aged about 70 years, R/o 8/52A, Double Storey Qtrs., Vijay Nagar, ND, do hereby on solemn affirmation state and declare as under: -
1. That in the year 1984, I was having my shop bearing No. 54-A, Rani Jhansi Road, Tyre Market, ND, and I was residing at the above said address.
2. That on 1-11-84, at about 6:00 or 6:30 in the morning I was informed by Mr. Kishan Lal about the fire at my shop. Then I immediately went to my shop and starting helping the Fire Brigade people to extinguish the same. When I reached at the shop I also saw that about 17 shops were burning.
3. That after about one hour I went to the house of Jathedar Teja Singh, who was residing at E-143, Idgah Road, Ahata Kidara, ND, and brought the key of his shop bearing No.55, Rani Jhansi Road, Tyre Market, ND, and started guarding the same. I had spent whole day in extinguishing the fire, I had not seen any police personnel the whole day.
4. That in the evening at about 7:00 pm, on 1-11-84, one SI and one Constable came to me when I was guarding my shop and told me that I should leave this place immediately. When I protest it he tried to beat me and said that curfew has already been imposed. There was an heated argument with the said police officers with me. At that time mob was roaming around and these police personnel were not taking any action against the rioters. After some time I left the place and went to my home on foot.
5. That I had lodged a police complaint with the police in writing along with other shopkeepers on 5-11-84. I suffered a loss of Rs.1.5 lakh. I have not received any compensation from any authority.
