1984 Delhi Sikh Genocide - Affidavits

Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

We, 1). Beant Singh s/o Sh. Labh Singh, r/o C-4/168, 2) Swaran Singh s/o Sh. Kirpa Ram, r/o B-I/198 and 3) Yash Pal Singh s/o S. Jit Singh, r/o C-5/14, residents of Yamuna Vihar, Delhi-110053, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under: -

1. That on 1st November, 1984, we were performing Prabhat Pheries in order to celebrate Guru Nanak Sahib Ji's Birthday. On being objected to by some miscreants we approached to SHO Yamana Vihar P. S. with the request that assistance of some police constables from 5 am to 7:30 am might be given and arrangement to safeguard Gurdwara be made by Sabha letter No. GGSS/YV/2/83-84 dated 1-11-84, copy enclosed.

2. That inspite of all that Gurdwara and homes of particular community (Sikh) were set on fire and all the household goods were destroyed are looted by mob (rioters). List of house destroyed or set on fire is attached herewith.

3. That about 19 men were killed by the mob in the riots on 1st November to 3rd November 1984, and the Govt. machinery totally failed to control the situation despite of our requests to the SHO for the purpose.
