Affidavit submitted before the Misra Commission

I, Amarjit Singh son of Puran Singh, aged 30 years, resident of Jaidev Park, Rampura, Gurdwara Singh Sabha, present resident of Block – S-156, Mangolpuri, Delhi, do hereby state on solemn affirmation: -

1. That on 1-11-84, at about 10 – 11 am, about a thousand persons in a mob came to Gurdwara. We resided in the Gurdwara itself.

The mob was carrying sticks, stones, iron rods etc. They burnt the Gurdwara and then looted our residence. Later on, the house was also set on fire. The mob pelted stones at us, attacked us with lathis and then burnt our house before our eyes.

When every thing had already happened, then the police took us to Punjabi Bagh Police Station. There we remained for three days. In this incident, I suffered a loss of Rs.2000/-. In this incident my grand father who was residing Mangolpuri was also killed. There, the police did not help at all.
