Ghudani Kalan is located approximately 35 km's from Ludhiana. The village is only 4 km's from Rara Sahib and a relatively undiscovered wonder.

There are 4 Historic Sikh Gurdwaras in Ghudani Kalan.

Gurdwara Sri Damdama Sahib Ghudani Kalan

After being released from Gwalior, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji was travelling to Amritsar. When Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji arrived in Ghudani Kalan during 1631 he first stopped to rest here. At that time a Sadhu was living here.

The Sadhu served Guru Hargobind with water and had a spiritual discussion with Guru Ji. Guru Hargobind set the sadhu free from the cycle of life and death. When villagers heard that Guru Hargobind had come, they invited Guru Ji into their village.

Gurdwara Sri Haveli Sahib

Guru Hargobind stayed here at the house of Baba Surtya Ji. Gurdwara Sri Haveli Sahib is also known as Gurdwara Sri Bharhaula Sahib.

As there was no food to provide langar for Guru Hargobind, Guru Ji asked for some wheat. Baba Surtya's wife had none to give except for a few seeds left around the chakki (millstone). Guru Hargobind put the dried wheat into a Bharhaula, which is a storage pot, with strict instructions not to lift the lid and look inside. Guru Ji said that whenever wheat was required the Bharhaula would provide it. The wheat came out of the bottom of the Bharhaula for many years

The Bharhaula continued providing wheat for 180 years and five generations until a new daughter-in-law lifted the lid to clean the Bharhaula and found it was empty inside, with cobwebs. Thereafter, the Bharhaula stopped providing wheat.

Gurdwara Sri Nimsar Sahib

Guru Hargobind would wash and brush his teeth at the location of this Gurdwara. Gurdwara Sri Nimsar Sahib is also known as Gurdwara Sri Datan Sar Sahib as datan means to brush teeth.

One day Guru Ji carried out datan with a nim twig. Guru Hargobind planted the nim twig in the ground and a nim tree developed over time which still exists. The leaves of a nim tree are usually very bitter however they are neither bitter nor sweet on this tree.

Gurdwara Sri Chola Sahib Ghudani Kalan

Guru Hargobind would also hold a daily diwan (congregation) for all here. Many Sikhs and others from nearby villages would come to hear and see Guru Ji.

Guru Hargobind felt at home at Ghudani Kalan and stayed here for 45 days. Guru Ji was happy at the sewa Bhai Surtya Ji and the villagers offered to him and all Sikhs. Before leaving, Guru Ji left some very important gifts, he gave;

1. A Chola Sahib with 52 kalian (the Chola Sahib was the same one used by Guru Hargobind while coming out of Gwalior Fort to set the 52 Rajput rajas free).
2. Jora Sahib (shoes)
3. Small Larivaar Gutka containing Gurbani, which Guru Sahib used while staying here.
