A gentle tale about patience, persistence, and clever thinking
In a lush green forest, where the breeze whispered softly through the leaves, lived a tiny bird with a very big heart. Though small in size, she was full of courage and determination.
One morning, she woke up feeling very hungry. She flew high and low, searching across the forest for something to eat. At last, beneath a tall tree, she spotted a tiny grain of rice.
Her eyes sparkled with joy. She quickly picked it up and flew to a branch to enjoy her meal.
But suddenly—oh no! The grain slipped from her beak and rolled into a deep hole in the tree trunk.
The little bird finds a tiny grain after a long search.
The little bird peered into the hole and tried to reach her grain, but it was far too deep.
"Tree, tree, please give me back my grain," she chirped.
The old tree rustled its leaves and replied, "Little bird, what falls inside me cannot easily return."
The bird felt sad—but she did not give up.
The tree could not return the grain.
She flew toward a fire glowing warmly nearby.
"Fire, fire, please burn the tree so I can get my grain back."
The fire flickered and said, "I only burn for important things, little one. I cannot help for just a grain."
Still, the bird did not give up. Nearby, a cat perched calmly, watching everything carefully. Its eyes seemed to sparkle with understanding.
The fire could not help either.
Next, she flew to the flowing river.
"Water, water, please put out the fire."
The river swirled gently and replied, "I must keep flowing to give life to all. I cannot stop."
The bird sighed—but kept going.
The river gently refused, but the bird kept trying.
Soon, she saw a great elephant nearby.
"Elephant, please drink the water so it can help me."
The elephant shook his head. "I am busy, little bird. I cannot help right now."
For a moment, the bird felt tired… but deep inside, she knew she must keep trying. The cat that had been nearby padded softly along the forest floor, its tail flicking as it noticed the little bird struggling with the tree, the fire, and the river. It seemed to be thinking… quietly.
The elephant was too busy to help.
She spotted a rope lying nearby.
"Rope, please tie the elephant."
The rope replied, "I cannot move on my own."
The cat watched the chaos and said to itself, "I've seen tricky problems like this before…"
The rope could not act by itself.
Then the little bird saw a tiny mouse.
"Mouse, please nibble the rope."
The mouse squeaked, "I am too small to do this alone."
The little bird paused for a moment. She felt weary—but her hope remained. Among the trees, the cat's eyes glimmered thoughtfully, as if it had already begun to see a way forward.
Even the mouse could not help—yet.
Just then, the little bird noticed the cat nearby, sitting quietly on a rock and watching everything with sharp, curious eyes. Its tail flicked thoughtfully as it observed the little bird's struggle.
"Cat, cat, can you help me?"
The cat smiled knowingly. "Of course, little bird. Let us solve this together."
The cat brings a clever solution.
And so, the plan began:
The cat chased the mouse.
The mouse nibbled the rope.
The rope wrapped around the elephant.
The elephant drank the water.
The water put out the fire.
The fire burnt the tree.
And the tree released the grain!
At last, the little bird got her precious grain back.
The little bird chirped with joy, "Thank you, everyone! I never gave up—and I found a way!"
She happily enjoyed her meal, proud of her patience and determination.
The bird celebrates her success.
1. Never give up: Even when things feel difficult.
